This started out as my blog about all things random: condiments, Gilmore Girls, books, and dreams. It's still pretty random. I still love ketchup and still dream of living in Stars Hollow, but now I mostly write about books, my sweetheart, and our son. Can you blame me? I'm an English teacher that fell in love and became a stay-at-home mom. Happy reading and welcome to the chaos!

Versailles - Day 4, Part 1
Versailles is one of those places where history comes to life and all the images you have of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI become real in a way that's only possible when you stand where they stood.

These pictures do not begin to show the size of Versailles and its grounds. When we visited in 2000, they had just had a storm where 20,000(!) trees had been knocked down. You could not tell then, and you most definitely cannot tell now. I cannot comprehend how many gardeners it would take to maintain the grounds not to mention how many security staff, etc, etc.
